taking a day off,

having lunch at cafe Sopra inside Fratelli Fresh on Danks St in Waterloo. it's a converted warehouse and the food is to die for. you MUST try the stuffed zuchinni flowers, omlette with goats cheese and baby basil and a banoffee pie for desert. delish! the carafes of house wine are cheap and satisfying, and it is no taboo to start drinking at 10 in the morning.

after your appetite for food is satiated, cross the road and head into the PYD building and make a beeline straight for Country Trader. (for those not bothered check out their collection on their website) granted the furniture is out of (nearly) everyone's price range, i can guarantee you will be inspired and amazed. (i mean, when you're looking at a $50,000 antique mirror how can you not be?)

there are a few other cool stores in PYD, mother of pearl & sons has absolutely to DIE for handles. you can honestly make any old piece of second hand/ikea furniture into a visual delight :)

all of this can be followed by a trawl through the (amazing) vintage shops of crown street finishing finally on oxford street where i am sure a much needed beer should be consumed.

antlers

i love love love antlers and skulls. i suppose it has come from my father who also used to love skulls, i have a heap of beautiful ones floating around the garden that i might rescue, i think their is a goat and a cow? he has an amazing tiger at his home that is hundreds of years old which i am totally in love with, but i think animal rights activists might not be to happy with, haha.

so here are some photographs of skulls and antlers that i adore! (and for the more squeamish/animal friendly there will be some fake ones too :) )

this room is incredibly kitsch but adorable at the same time! it's from the Fox Hotel in Copenhagen. Basically, for the launch of Volkswagen fox, the hotel got 21 street artists, graphic designers and illustrators from around the globe and they transformed the 61 rooms. this scull pillow is adorable and i love the idea of using a big old tapestry as a bedcover. so warm for winter!

for anyone wanting to re-create this look at home, their is a fantasic shop in westfeild bondi junction called Hart & Heim. they sell a huge range of wacky homewares. my family and i went in there the other day and were stuck for ages pining over all the amazing things. even if you dont dig the sculls/antlers/animalheads totally check out their range because it's fantastic and has something for everyone

candy buffet in green. an airtight jar in an interesting shape filled with green candy would look fantastic in the kitchen i am thinking. but i know i'd be tempted and just probably eat it :(

left: keep calm and carry on fabric wall hanging from ebay. cost me 2c and $9 postage. bargain! kitchenain mixers in apple green and pistachio; i die. i must have one, but around $700 a pop i'll be saving for a while. they come in an array of colours and are simply too beautiful to be kept in your cupboards like any other mixer. i will certainly be displaying this on my coffee table when it is finally mine.

right: chandeliers. always timeless. this ikea frame is only $69 and despite the protests of my lovely boyfriend i am buying it. i either want to turn it into a mirror, or frame some great vintage fabric swatches or wallpaper. i also love the idea of getting random items, spraypainting them a vivid green and using them decoratively around the house. we want a bright green rollerskate as a doorstop. to make it heavy enough we are thinking of filling it with concrete or stones. if anyone has any better suggestions, please let me know!

my darling gorgeous boyfriend bought me a moss covered book to jot my thoughts into. it has become my unofficial homewares spank bank. scanning in pages now

dying over marimekko bedcovers. the green is divine and the cartoon trees are adorable. i also love the idea of buying cheap vintage chairs from thriftstores, sanding them back and painting them in shades of vivid green. this particular colour is called "yellow zing" from porters paints. looks like a limey green to me! i have an obsession with bird imagery, but hate live birds (hows that for weird). i wanted a vintage ornate birdcage painted green stuffed with big chunky white candles somewhere in my living room. to date, all the birdcages i've found are very expensive, so for now i'm sticking to these amazing vinyl wall stickers. you can find them on online stores and some homewares stores for around $50-$120, but i found a store on ebay that sells them for around $15. i think it would be wise to mention that i am an unemployed (for now) 19 year old student so everything in my dream house will be on a TIGHT budget.

i feel i've written enough for one post, so perhaps i'll leave this as a teaser and upload the other pictures in subsequent posts. xo
